A domain age checker needs a source date

A domain age result is useful only when it says which date it measured. This checker reads the current domain record from the registry's RDAP service and looks specifically for a registration lifecycle event. The receipt keeps the event name, its exact timestamp and the time of the lookup. It calculates whole elapsed UTC days and shows years only as an approximate reading of that exact interval.

Transfer dates and “last changed” events are not registration dates. The tool never swaps one in because it happens to be present. It also does not subtract a standard renewal term from an expiration date. When the required event is absent, the answer is “missing,” not an invented date.

Registration date is not always continuous domain age

RDAP distinguishes initial registration from reregistration and reinstantiation. Those events matter because a name can be deleted and later registered again. If a record exposes more than one lifecycle candidate, choosing the oldest would create a confident but potentially false continuous-age claim. This page marks the evidence ambiguous and lists every candidate instead.

Even one clean registration event has a narrow meaning: it describes the registry object. It does not prove continuous ownership, the date a website first published, the age of its current content or a complete historical WHOIS record. Use the displayed language—“time since the registry-reported event”—when citing the result.

Domain age is not an SEO score

An older registration does not demonstrate useful content, trusted links, a stable owner or search visibility. This checker therefore has no “good age,” authority grade or ranking verdict. Why some domains have no result

The browser first downloads IANA's current DNS RDAP directory and then contacts only the HTTPS registry endpoint mapped for the domain ending. Some endings have no such mapping. A mapped registry can omit registration events, rate-limit requests or return a response that cannot safely support the claim. Unsupported, missing and failed are kept separate so none can masquerade as an age of zero.
